Robert "Bob" Eugene Barbee

June 4, 1944 — December 9, 2018

Robert Eugene Barbee (Bob/Bobby) was born on June 4, 1944 in Rocky Ford, Colorado. He was the fourth child of T.J. and Helen Nickels Barbee. The family moved to the Cortez area in 1952.
Bob was a typical country kid, running around the area with his brother and sisters and the neighborhood kids; swimming in the canal, playing ball, and just being kids. He went to school and graduated from Dolores High School. After graduation, he joined the Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed at Fort Reilly, Kansas.
Bob was extremely talented and a very gifted artist. He was left handed and painted his beautiful pictures upside down, much to everyone’s amazement. Bob also did exceptional wood carvings of animals. He was a quiet person, but had a sense of humor and liked to visit with his friends. He was also a big football fan.
Bob passed away at Mercy Hospital on December 9, 2018 with his sister and brother-in-law with him.
Surviving Bob are his children, Dwayne, of Florida, Tom, of Texas, and Cherrie Krebs, of New Mexico. He is also survived by his sister Gayle Gardner and husband Grady of Dolores as well as his broth-in-law Galen Headley. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James, and his sister Rayma.
