ROBERT BERTON “BOB” CELLAR Funeral services for longtime Dolores resident Robert Berton “Bob” Cellar will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 30 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Summit Ridge Cemetery. Pastor Kent Slyter of the Arriola Bible Church will be officiating. Visitation has been set for Tuesday morning beginning at 8 a.m. until service time at the Ertel Chapel. Bob was born on October 9, 1917 in Waverly, Kans., the son of Alexander Patterson and Ellen (Lyons) Cellar. He passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center in Durango at the age of 88. Coming to the area in 1936, Bob spent many years farming. He was also employed in construction, and doing carpenter work. He built many of the business buildings in Durango and Cortez. On many of these jobs he held the position of General Superintendent. Bob was instrumental in the development of Montezuma Water Company. On July 3, 1939 Bob married Sylvia Ellen Weems in Monticello, Utah. Bob and Sylvia shared 65 years of marriage before her death in 2004. Surviving Bob are his children, Segrid Davidson of Dolores, Ralph Cellar and wife, Gyanne of Cortez, and Joe Cellar of Delta, Colo.; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and his sister, Ruth Moore of Clarkson, Kentucky. Preceding Bob in death were his beloved wife, Sylvia Cellar; daughter, Roberta Ann Pope; and his parents. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Robert B. Cellar with the Dolores Fire Department.
