REBECCA GERTRUDE DAVIS Funeral services for lifelong area resident, Rebecca Gertrude Davis will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 24 at Out Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Father Derrek Scott will officiate. Interement will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. Rosary services have been set for Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Rebecca, or “Becca” as she was fondly known by family and friends, was born April 2, 1927 in Dolores, the daughter of Alexander Joseph and Pasqualita (Roybal) Vigil. She passed away at Southwest Memorial Hospital on Friday, June 18, 2004 at the age of 77. Rebecca attended cosmetology school in Ogden, Utah and worked in that field for 40 years. She loved to travel and to shop for all sorts of new things. She also enjoyed watching old classic movies and going out dancing. Rebecca was a member of the Catholic Church and had served as President for the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving Rebecca are her children, Braxston E. Lee and wife, Rebecca of Loveland, Colo., Michelle R. Lee of Cortez, and Bryan D. Lee of Greeley, Colo; and two grandchildren, Alexander E. Lee and Simone R. Lee both of Loveland, Colo. Three sisters, Ruby Gonzales of Dolores, Susan Valdez of Monte Vista, Colo., and Rosie Vigil of Minneapolis, Minn.; and three brothers, Rudy Vigil of Wilmer, Minn., Alex Vigil of Provo, Utah, and Frank Vigil of Brea, Calif. also survive Rebecca. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Rebecca Davis with Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Dolores.
