RAYMOND EDWARD EYETOO Memorial services for lifelong Towaoc resident, Raymond Edward Eyetoo will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 2 at the Cortez First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Towaoc Cemetery. Reverend Bud Rousett will be officiating. Raymond was born on October 13, 1938 in Towaoc to Edward Elliott Eyetoo and Maria Hight. He passed away at the Southwest Memorial Hospital on Sunday, March 28, 2004. Raymond was 65 years old. On May 14, 1960 Raymond married Elizabeth Armenta. He maintained an active lifestyle in his community. He was a former Ute Mountain Ute Councilman, a member of the Southwest Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, a former school board member, police officer, Para-legal, and dispatcher. During his spare time Raymond enjoyed planting gardens and taking care of yards for others. Reading, and feeding and watching hummingbirds were also favorite pastimes. Raymond is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Eyetoo of Towaoc; his children, Eric Amos Eyetoo and wife, Ruby of Dolores, Shelley Rae Eyetoo and husband, Neil McKensley, Reyes Elliott Eyetoo, and Alex Cayce Eyetoo all of Towaoc. He left four grandchildren to mourn his passing, Autumn Eyetoo, Drake X Eyetoo, Zack Neal McKensley, and Reyes Michael McKensley. His siblings, Shirley Eyetoo, Buddy Lopez, Julian Lopez all of Towaoc, Dixie Eyetoo Hosatosavet of Mescalero, N.M., Adeline Eyetoo of White Mesa, Utah, and Allegra Eyetoo of Durango also survive Raymond. His aunt Stella Eyetoo of White Mesa, Utah survives him as well. Preceding Raymond in death were his parents; and his brother, Edwin Eyetoo. Services are under the direction of the Ertel Funeral Home.
