RALPH LEROY FRANS Beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather Graveside Inurnment services for Cortez resident, Ralph Leroy Frans will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, November 14 at the Frans Family Cemetery at Urado-Bug Point, Utah. Military Honors will be conducted by Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. Ralph was born March 1, 1949 in a small community in the San Louis Valley, Colo. the son of Harvey and Margaret Frans. He spent most of his life there and in Lamar, Colo. Ralph passed into heaven on November 3, 2014 at the University of New Mexico Medical Center in Albuquerque, N.M. He is now at rest with his Lord and Savior. Ralph joined the Army in Oklahoma in 1968. He served his country honorably as a mechanic during his tour of duty in Korea until 1969. Upon leaving the service, Ralph moved to Cortez; where he met the love of his life, Brenda Sanchez. They were married August 7, 1979. Into this union one daughter was born, Marsha Frans. He also raised three step-children. Ralph worked in the Cortez area in the lumber trade for many years, and later at Slavens Hardware until he retired in 2013. Ralph enjoyed being with his family and loved to fish, camp and hunt with them. He also liked going to auctions and yard sales. Preceding Ralph in death are his parents, Harvey J. and Margaret Frans; and his grandparents, George and Edna Frans. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Frans; father-in-law, Clyde Ray and wife, Lora Sanchez of Santa Fe, N.M.; brother, George (Buch) Frans and wife, Shirley of Lamar, Colo.; two step-daughters, Shelia Baker and Daniel James, and Christina Vega and husband, Alonso Hernandez; step-son, Dale Baker and wife, Amanda; daughter, Marsha Vallejos and husband, Rudy all of Cortez. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Tylor, Fonzie, Chelsie, MaryBell, Leon, Leona, Markus, and Brayden. Ralph will be deeply missed by family, friends, and those who knew him.
