PETER TURNER CARTER A celebration of life for longtime Rico resident Peter Turner Carter will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14 at the Rico Hotel. A visitation has been scheduled for Friday, January 9th from 1:30 to 6 p.m. at the Rico Community Church. Peter was born June 3, 1947 in Sharon, Conn. the son of Edward Turner and Virginia Martin (Kimble) Carter. He passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at his residence at the age of 61. Peter loved outdoor activities. He considered the outdoors his "church." Peter enjoyed mountain biking, playing volleyball, back-country skiing, and spending time with his family at the lake. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. A past president of the Rico Fire District, Peter was very successful and responsible in everything he engaged in, including his work. "See you in the trees." Surviving Peter are his wife, June Carter of Rico; his children, Jereb Carter and wife, Katie, Alisia Klimasewiski and husband, Josh, and Brooke Sinclair and husband, Justin, all of Rico; his siblings, Ed Carter and wife, Debbie L. Brandt of New York, and Dale Goggins of Massachusetts; his grandchildren, Tula, Peyton, and Jude; and many loved nieces, nephews, and family members. Peter was preceded in death by his parents; and his nephew, Blair Carter. Memorial contributions may be made to the Peter T. Carter memorial fund at U.S. Bank.
