Paul Gordon Farmer

PAUL GORDON FARMER Memorial services for longtime Cortez resident, Paul Gordon Farmer will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 21 at the Arriola Bible Church. Pastor Kent Slyter will be officiating. Paul was born on December 17, 1925 in Colorado Springs, Colo. the son of Fredrick Frank and Addie Viola (Johnson) Farmer. He passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at his home in Cortez at the age of 89. During his younger years, Paul worked at his father's greenhouse which gave him a love of plants. On December 20, 1948 in Aurora, Colo., Paul married Cleo Mae Scott. After marriage he became quite the businessman. Owning a bookstore for a time and running a farm for many years. However, his work in construction stands above the rest. He worked as a carpenter building residential structures in Boulder. Then went on as a contractor in Cedaredge where he built many homes. After retiring from construction Paul became a groundskeeper. Paul dedicated his life to the Lord. He served as a Deacon and Elder in the various churches he attended. Most recently he was a member of the Arriola Bible Church serving in the men's ministry and on the missionary board. When he wasn't working hard or spending his time in service, Paul enjoyed working in his garden, reading and playing with his cats. Surviving Paul are his children, Nancy Williams and husband, Allen of Lafayette, Colo., David Farmer and wife, Diane of Grand Junction, Colo., Bruce Farmer and wife, Lynne of Stillwater, Okla., and Wanda Farmer of Cortez;. He leaves 17 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; as well as his brother, Roger Farmer of Denver, Colo. Preceding Paul in death are his wife, Cleo Farmer; his sons, Dean and Frank Farmer; three great grandchildren; his parents, Fredrick and Addie Farmer; and his brother and sisters, Harry Farmer, Rosemary Farmer and Vivian Irene Farmer.
