OLIVIA MAYBELLE YEOMANS Memorial services for longtime Cortez resident Olivia Maybelle Yeomans will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 29 at the Cortez First United Methodist Church. Maybelle was born on September 10, 1909 in Fairbanks, Ariz. the daughter of Harry E. and Alice (Weisbeck) Lundquist. She passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at the Vista Grande Inn at the age of 98. Maybelle attended and graduated from Arizona State University and the University of Arizona. She went on to teach and educate children for 40 years. On November 3, 1943, Maybelle and Wallace Charles Yeomans were married in Bowie, Ariz. Maybelle was very active in her community. She was a member of the Cortez Order of Eastern Star #87, Cortez Emblem Club #261, Cortez United Methodist Church, Red Hat Club and she belonged to a square dance club. She volunteered her time at the Methodist Thrift Store for many years. In her free time, Maybelle enjoyed camping, traveling, and square dancing. She had been a resident of Vista Grande Inn for the past eight months. Surviving Maybelle are her children, Lillian O. Young of Hawaii, and Edward W. Yeomans and wife, Pamela of Escondido, Calif.; her grandchildren, Kim Claire of Massachusetts, Andy Yeomans of Telluride, Colo., and Scott Yeomans of Escondido, Calif.; her great-grandson, Kyle Crossman of Massachusetts; and her brother, George Lundquist of Tucson, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wallace C. Yeomans; and her siblings, Wallace Lundquist, Harry Lundquist, Emmett Lundquist, Alice Longmore, Beryl Bynum, and Hazel Treu.
