NORMA LEOTA DENNISON Funeral services for lifelong Cortez resident Norma Leota Dennison will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, January 18 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Norma was born to Jack and Lucille (Veach) Meadows in Cortez on March 13, 1928. She passed away at Vista Mesa Retirement Center on Thursday, January 14, 2009 at the age of 81. Norma married Kenneth M. Dennison on May 2, 1945. They shared 56 years of marriage before Kenneth’s death in 2002. Norma dedicated herself as wife and mother and enjoyed cooking for her family. In her later years she loved being grandma to her grandchildren. Surviving Norma are her children, Gary Dennison and wife, Karen of Fruita, Colo. and Cindy Lichliter and husband, Allen of Cortez. She is survived by six grandchildren, Michelle Blades and husband, Scott of Farmington, N.M., Jerrod Simmons and wife, Michelle of Cortez, Michael Dennison and wife, Jude of Casper, Wyo., Kevin Simmons and wife, Kari of LaPlata, N.M., Laci Kibel and husband, Chad of Dolores, and Royanne Lichliter of Denver, Colo.; by 14 great grandchildren; and by her siblings, Jackie Wallace of Mancos, Nola Ferguson of Cortez, and Oretta Smith of Mesa, Ariz. Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Dennison; daughter, Sherril Miller; and her sister, Hazel Smith.
