Nellie Ellen Garland

NELLIE ELLEN GARLAND Nellie was born February 17, 1915 in Somerset, Colo. She passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013, at Madison House in Cortez, Colo. A "Celebration of Life" memorial service will be held on what would have been her 98th birthday on February 17, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Nellie grew up in Hotchkiss, Colo. and graduated from high school there in 1934. She worked several jobs in that area before moving to Cortez to become a bookkeeper. Nellie met and married her husband of 65 years, William Elzey Garland (deceased in 2009) in 1943. For many years they maintained a home in Cortez and one on the family farm near Dove Creek, Colo. She lived at Madison House from May, 2009 until her death. Following the memorial service, the family would like you to share a meal and memories of Nellie at Madison House, 120 South Madison, Cortez. In lieu of flowers, any donations should be made to Madison House Assisted Living.
