Minnie Gertrude Bond

MINNIE GERTRUDE BOND Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident Minnie Gertrude Bond will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 19 at Cortez First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Minnie was born on January 30, 1919 in Mountain View, Okla. the daughter of John Elias and Mary Ruth (Longacre) Sample. She passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at her home at the age of 90. On June 17, 1936, Minnie married Waymund Bond in Chickasha, Okla. Waymund was the love of her life. Minnie enjoyed time spent dancing, sewing, music, visiting with her friends and neighbors, and watching her family member's sporting events. Minnie loved to spend time with all of her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Surviving Minnie are her children, Aretta Gooch and husband, Tommy of Oklahoma City, Okla., JoAnn Miller of Carlsbad, N.M., Reta McNeill and husband, Don Fox of Cortez, John Bond and wife, Deanna of Cortez, Howard Bond and wife, Kaye of Perry, Okla., and Gail Bond and husband, Gary Gellatly of Cortez; 18 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and her siblings, J.C. Sample, Dorothy Harrison, Viola Olszark, Stella Eck, and Wanda Hill. Minnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Waymund Bond; and by three brothers and three sisters. Memorial contributions may be made in Minnie's name to the Montezuma County Senior Center, 103 N. Chestnut St., Cortez.
