MILDRED PAULINE MAGGART Graveside services for former Cortez resident, Mildred Pauline Maggart will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 13 at the Cortez Cemetery. Reverends Lynn Evans and Matt Crain will be officiating. Mildred was born on August 5, 1916 in Poteau, Okla. the daughter of John Thomas and Zola (Butler) Bookout. She passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at the San Nicolas Assisted Living Center in Tucson, Ariz. at the age of 88. Mildred was married to Woodrow Bryan “Doc” Maggart who passed away on April 27, 1981. She and Doc co-owned and managed the Anasazi Motel which was the Ramada Inn at the time. Mildred loved taking trips to Las Vegas, as well as gardening. She was devoted to her family and loved them all very much. Mildred moved to Tucson a year and half ago where she resided until her death. She was the last of twelve children to pass on. Surviving Mildred are her children, Sandy Guinn and husband, Jerry of Tulsa, Okla., Linda R. Holloway and husband, Robert of Tucson, Ariz., and Woody Maggart and wife, Sally of Fort Collins, Colo. Six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren also survive Mildred. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Doc Maggart; and 11 brothers and sisters. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Mildred’s memory to either the Scott McComb Memorial Fund in Cortez or to the Cal Farley’s Boys and Girls Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174-0001.
