Mary J. Gallegos Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident Mary J. Gallegos will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 16 at Evangel Assembly of God Church. Cremation will follow. Visitation has been scheduled for Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Mary was born September 26, 1940 in Pagosa Springs, Colo. and she passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the age of 76. Mary Gallegos was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Abilino A. Gallegos; her daughter, Helen Gallegos; her parents, Jacob and Adela Archuleta; her brothers, Leo Archuleta and Orlando Archuleta; her sisters, Cleophes Lettig and Ophelia Lujan. Mary is survived by her life partner, Abel Martinez, of Cortez; her daughter, Debbie Otero, Cortez; her sons, John (Pam) Gallegos of Cortez, Mark (Carmela) Gallegos of Cortez, and Matthew (Tammy) Gallegos Madison Ala; her brother Joe (Catalina) Archuleta of Sacramento, Calif.; and her sister, Cleo (Rudy) Hernandez of Clearfield, Utah. Mary had 29 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren; and by numerous friends and extented family. Mary never met a stranger and was loved by all. She will be greatly missed.
