MARGARET LAVERNNE SWANNER Memorial services for lifelong area resident Margaret LaVernne Swanner will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 27 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Road M Chapel. Bishop Gary Tanner will conduct. LaVernne was born January 9, 1928 in McElmo Canyon, Colo. the daughter of Kip and Jewel (Hall) Coppinger. She passed away at her Dolores home on Sunday, May 22, 2011 at the age of 83. LaVernne married Jack Rondel Swanner on January 16, 1946 in Bernalillo, N.M. They shared 54 devoted years of marriage before Jack's death in 2000. LaVernne was a Past President of the Dolores Chamber of Commerce and had held memberships in Club 20 and Garden Club. She was active member of the L.D.S. Church and their Relief Society. Surviving LaVernne are her children, Richard Swanner and wife, Marie of Dolores and DeLane Swanner Boan also of Dolores; four grandchildren, Sherri Gardner and husband, Jeff of Arriola, Ronda Swanner and Herschel Hampson of Dolores, Teri McEwen and husband, Marty of Dallas, Tex., and Tricia Umberger and husband, Cody of Dolores; six precious great grandchildren; and two sisters, Janice Hager of Lakeview, and Barbara "Jinx" Flowers of Chico, Calif. LaVernne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Swanner; and a sister, Nadine Bailey. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of LaVernne Swanner with Hospice of Montezuma, P.O.
