Margaret Elizabeth Ancell

MARGARET ELIZABETH ANCELL Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident Margaret Elizabeth Ancell will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4 at the Cortez Church of Christ. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. Mr. Gary Hill will officiate. The daughter of Freeman and Emily Belle (Hart) Galloway, Margaret was born on January 11, 1912 in Zephyr, Tex. She passed away on Friday, September 29, 2006 at her residence at the age of 94. On June 9, 1949, Margaret married Lee M. Ancell Sr. in Seminole, Tex. Margaret was a devoted member of the Sweet Adelines and the Church of Christ. In her spare time, Margaret enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Canning and gardening were her first loves. Margaret was a wonderful person who will be greatly missed by many. Surviving Margaret are her children, Marvin Ancell and wife, Jenny of Melbourne, Australia, Walter H. Ancell and wife, Rosie of Dolores, Bill C. Ancell and wife, Shelly of Lawton, Okla., and Julie Pickering and husband, Doug of Durango. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Kelly Baker, Kara Rahall, Joe Ancell, Katie Jo Ancell, Maria Ancell, and Garrett Ancell; and her great-grandchildren, Jay Lee Ancell, and Grady Baker. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee M. Ancell Sr. in 2003; and her siblings, Lucy Sansom and Joe Galloway.
