MABEL IONE DOSSEY Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident, Mabel Ione Dossey will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 26 at the Cortez Church of Christ. Mr. Gary Hill will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Coventry Cemetery in Redvale, Colo. Ione was born August 18, 1919 in Cedar, Colo. the daughter of Thomas H and Susanah (Stoddard) Holybee. She passed away at Vista Grande Nursing Home on Saturday, March 21, 2015. Ione was 95 years old. Ione married Elmer L. Archer June 28, 1937 and was blessed with five children. They lived in the Redvale and Naturita area until Elmer's death in 1955. In 1956 Ione married Frank Hall and moved to Bluff, Utah until his death in 1960. On March 25, 1964 in Cortez, Ione married Loyal B. "Bud" Dossey. They resided in the Cortez area. The Dossey's enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling until his death in January 1991. Ione, was employed with Southwest Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1990. After her retirement, Ione enjoyed quilting for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling with her children and grandchildren, her suitcase was always ready! Surviving Ione are her daughters, Susan Heese of Grand Junction, Colo., Veronica Lanier of Cortez; her son, Elmer Archer and wife, Linda of Arizona; numerous grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Elva Archer of Redvale, Colo. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Elmer Archer, Frank Hall and Loyal "Bud" Dossey; parents, Thomas and Susanah Holybee; her siblings; and two daughters, Billie Joe Lovelace and Babe Archer.
