Lyndole Ray Scott

LYNDOLE RAY "TEX" SCOTT Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident and current Durango resident Lyndole Ray "Tex" Scott will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. A visitation has been scheduled for Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ertel Chapel. Tex was born on September 5, 1941 in Ralls, Tex. the son of Andrew Jackson and Emoryl (Smith) Scott. He passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center in Durango at the age of 66. On March 5, 1960, Tex and Mary Ellen Baxstrom were wed in Cortez. Tex spent many years working as a salesman at Marsell Motors and later at Keesee Motors. In his spare time he loved to play the guitar and work on cars. He also enjoyed listening to music and fishing. Surviving Tex are his wife of 47 years, Mary Scott of Durango; his children, Toni McClanahan and husband, Greg of Durango, Eric Scott and wife, LeiLani of Cortez, and Preston Scott of Durango; his grandchildren, Rachel Turley, Logan, Chad and Mikayla McClanahan, Tyler, Kyrsten, and Taylor Scott, and Kobe Scott; and his sister, Patricia Phillips, and husband, Drew of Paris, Tex. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Kerry Scott in 1989; and his brother, Troy Scott. Memorial contributions may be made in Tex's name to Citizens State Bank.
