Louis John Klumker

LOUIS JOHN KLUMKER A celebration of life will be held for Cortez resident Louis John Klumker at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 7 at Cindy Green's residence, 27183 Road H in Cortez. Louis was born on November 23, 1922 in Toponas, Colo. the son of William and Grace C. (Bruce) Klumker. He passed away on Friday, April 8, 2011 at his residence at the age of 88. In 1966, Louis began Bobcat Excavation where he was the owner and operator for 48 years. He was well known to his friends and community as "Mr. Bobcat." Louis was a member of the Steamboat Springs V.F.W., Labor Union, Teamsters, and the Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. A hard worker at heart, Louis never turned down a job. Wanting to try everything once, Louis had a very adventurous spirit. He valued friendships and his family immensely, Louis didn't know a stranger and shared his time and affection freely. Surviving Louis are his children, Steven Louis Klumker and wife, Cynthia of Mancos, Stormy Allen Klumker of Dolores, and Cindy Green and husband, Frank of Cortez; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and by his brother-in-law, Vaughn Fairbanks and wife, Shirley of Cortez. Louis was preceded in death by his parents; and by his wives, Dolores (Fairbanks) Klumker and Ella M. (Rowlands) Klumker; and by his siblings, Raymond, Aldis and Bill Klumker, and Peggy Fowler. Memorial contributions may be made in Louis' name to Hospice of Montezuma, P.O. Box 740 Cortez, Colo. 81321, or to the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center to aid the Patient Assistance Fund, c/o Scottsdale Health Care Foundation, 1001 N. 92 Street Suite 121, Scottsdale, Ariz. 85258.
