Layne And Helen Leffel

Memorial services for Cortez residents Larry Layne Leffel and Helen Angela Leffel will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the Cortez Elks Lodge #1789, 2100 N. Dolores Rd., Cortez, CO. Pastor Anthony Maes will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. A meal will be served after the inurnment back at the Cortez Elks Lodge.
Layne, 79, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021 in Wheat Ridge, CO. He was born May 8, 1942 in Uravan, CO.
Helen, 74, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2021 in Grand Junction, CO. She was born October 8, 1947 in Dolores, CO.
Surviving Layne and Helen are her mother, Fern Maestas; their daughter, Denise Sanchez (Shane); their granddaughter, Samantha Layne Sanchez; his sisters, Dorothy Heffner, Connie Martin, Audrey Gregory (Mike), Shauna Abney (Russ), Mary Taylor; her sisters, Sally Maestas, and Mary Logan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. They were preceded in death by his parents, Ella ‘Babe’ and Eldon Leffel; her father, Fred Maestas; and their son, Brian Layne Leffel.
