LAUVELL BEAVER HUDSON Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident Lauvell Beaver Hudson will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 7 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. A visitation has been scheduled for Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Ertel Chapel. Lauvell was born on July 19, 1921 in Hominy, Okla. the daughter of Don and Ida Mae Smith. She passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Vista Grand Inn at the age of 86. Lauvell was married to Burl Beaver from July 19, 1936 until his death November 22, 1974. They were blessed with three children, Janis, Don, and Sandra. Lauvell was married to Jim Hudson from June 19, 1976 until his death October 29, 1988. Lauvell and her family moved to the Cortez area in 1958. She had many friends and was involved in many clubs and organizations such as Eastern Star. Lauvell was an excellent seamstress who also enjoyed knitting, crafts, and gardening. Most of all she cherished all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by all. Surviving Lauvell are her children, Janis Abbey and husband, Frank of Bakersfield, Calif., Don Beaver and wife, Vickie of Santa Maria, Calif., and Sandra Greenlee and husband, Garth of Cortez; her six grandchildren, Debra Paradis of Youngsville, N.C., Dan Abbey of Blaine, Wash., Shannon Williamson, Kelly Oliver, and Judd Suckla, all of Cortez, and Sean Beaver of Santa Maria, Calif.; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; her half-sister, Oleta Leonard of Kansas; and numerous other half-siblings. Lauvell was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Burl Beaver and Jim Hudson; and her siblings, Carl Smith and Irma Lee Waddington.
