KENNETH WAYNE BAXSTROM Memorial services for Cortez resident, Kenneth Wayne Baxstrom will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Military services will be conducted by the Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. Kenny was born on June 4, 1937 at Trail Canyon, Colorado the son of Howard L. and Blanche P. (Ashbaugh) Baxstrom. He passed away on Friday, April 1, 2005 at the Southwest Memorial Hospital. Kenny was 67 years old. Kenny was in the Indian arts trading business which he deeply loved. He was a Native American Anthropologist, graduating from Fort Lewis College 'Cum Laude'. His Great-grandfather, Peter Baxstrom owned a stone quarry. Kenny was also a rock hound and loved traveling. Surviving Kenny are his son, Richard Baxstrom and wife, Mamiko Hada of Baltimore, Maryland; and his brothers and sisters, Harold Baxstrom and wife, Judy of Durango, Helen Holliday of Eager, Ariz., Mary Scott and husband, Tex of Durango, Gene Baxstrom and wife, Dana and Robert Baxstrom and wife, Sharon all of Dolores.
