Keith John Messinger Sr.

KEITH JOHN MESSINGER SR. Memorial services for former Cortez resident Keith John Messinger Sr. will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 24 at the Cortez Elks Lodge. Military honors will be provided by the Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. Keith was born on December 9, 1918 in Salt Lake City, Utah the son of William Blake and Grace (Hunter) Messinger. He passed away on September 20, 2007 in Scottsdale, Ariz. at the age of 89. Keith was a businessman in Cortez for over 50 years and he was a charter member of the local Elks Lodge. He enjoyed time spent attending Rotary functions, fishing, boating and flying. Surviving Keith are his wife of 34 years, Louise Messinger of Scottsdale, Ariz.; his children, John Messinger, and Pamela Peavey and husband, Richard of Durango; his grandsons, Ethan Peavey of Pocatello, Idaho, and Aaron Peavey of Denver, Colo.; his great-grandchildren, Karie, Jacob and Jack; and his siblings, Bill Messinger and wife, Mary Ann of Mountain Home, Idaho, and Marilyn Van Pool and husband, Richard of Idaho. Keith was preceded in death by his parents.
