June 3, 1917 — January 15, 2008

JUNE DELANE HUBBARD Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident, June Delane Hubbard will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 21 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. June was born June 3, 1917 in Craig, Colo. the daughter of Niler Eugene and Bessie Una (Hughes) Pyeatt. She passed away at Vista Grande Inn on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at the age of 90. As eldest child, June was a continual source of care giving to her younger siblings; a trait she carried through her life to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. June, with her first husband, Billy James Sparks, was mother to Carol, Larry and Billie; and with her second husband, Merle Henry Hubbard, was mother to Randy and Roy. She enjoyed time spent outdoors; traveling, fishing, camping and gardening. June also filled her time with sewing and craft work, and writing stories. She was a member of the Ute Mountain American Legion Auxiliary and the Good Sam Club. Surviving June are her children, Carol Skinner of Cortez, Larry Sparks of Cortez; and Roy Hubbard and wife, Kelli of Durango; grandchildren, Craig Skinner of Cortez, Brian Skinner of Lexington, S.C., Sherry Marsh of Portland, Ore., Terri Duncan of Wichita, Kans., Toni Powell of McKinney, Tex., Uriah Hubbard, Noah Hubbard, and Luke Hubbard all of Seattle, Wash., Zak Parson of San Francisco, Calif., and Meagan Jones and Brandon Caldwell both of Durango; by nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; and by her daughter-in-law, Angel Hubbard of Cortez. June is also survived by her sisters and brothers, Emma Nelson of Carlsbad, N.M., Gordon McKelvie of Grand Junction, Colo., Melvin Pyeatt of Carlsbad, N.M. and Lawrence Pyeatt of Trinidad, Colo. She is preceded in death by her husband, Merle Hubbard; daughter, Billie Diane Duncan; son, Randy Hubbard; and siblings, Roy Pyeatt, Bertha Wolfinbarger, Sam Pyeatt, and Frankie Pyeatt. Memorial contributions can be made in June Hubbards name with Hospice of Montezuma, PO Box 740, Cortez.
