Joe Ann Mattson

Graveside services for lifelong area resident, Joe Ann Mattson will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 14 at Cortez Cemetery. Pastor Marvin Graves will officiate. Joe Ann was born on May 19, 1953 in Cortez, Colo. the daughter of Joe F. and Feloniz Maria (Lucero) Espinoza. She passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016 at her Mancos residence at the age of 62. Joe Ann married Mark Henry Mattson on May 16, 1976 in Durango, Colo. She was employed at Mesa Verde National Park. Joe Ann enjoyed crocheting, fishing and spending time with her family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife and a wonderful caregiver to everyone she knew. Joe Ann is survived by her husband, Mark Mattson of Mancos, Colo.; her daughter, Feliz Mattson (Chad Cathey) of Del Rio, Texas; her two grandchildren, Amelia Hollis and Tayden Cathey; and her siblings, Emily Gallegos of Lewis, Colo., Donnie Espinoza (Joann) of Longmont, Colo., Maxine Switzer (Ed) of Cortez, Colo., Kathleen Padilla (Wes Bennett) of Summit Ridge, Colo. and by many extended family members and friends. Joe Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Feloniz Espinoza; by her brothers, Virgil Espinoza and Valois Espinoza and many other beloved family members.
