Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Jackie Miron Biard was born April 3, 1941 in Gasoline, Texas and passed away on Monday, January 27, 2014 in Cortez, Colo. He was the youngest child of Charlie James Biard and Cordie Myrtle Beene. His early years were spent in Quitiqua, Texas where he spent his time with his numerous cousins, working in the cotton fields, and playing. After his family moved to Cortez, he attended Caulkins Jr. High and MCHS. His favorite subject was history and his favorite teacher was Dean Rusk. Jackie loved to hunt and fish and spend time in the mountains camping. He worked on farms around the area, spent several years mining in Utah, and driving truck. He enjoyed his life as an over the road trucker, seeing new places and meeting people. He enjoyed both music and singing. Jackie also loved to draw and spent many hours pursuing both hobbies. Jackie is survived by his four children, James Lee of Dolores, Ryan O'neal of Cortez, Colin Lafayette of Dolores, and Leah RaChelle Dedmon (Josh) of Bullhead City, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Darcie Biard Holegate (Brandon) of Cortez, Dylan Lee Biard of Cortez, Savanna Kay Biard of Dolores and Albuquerque, N.M. and Colt Mills of Stephenville, Tex.; great granddaughter, Nya Lilly Holegate of Cortez and great grandson, Tanner Mills of Stephenville, Tex.; his six nephews and nieces, Ernie Biard (Shelley), Ronnie Biard (Melissa), Tommy Biard (Sharon), Denny Giesinger (Judy), Debbie Rosenbaugh (Danny), and his loving niece, Kathy Biard Retherford (Dennis); numerous great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, numerous cousins and friends. Jackie was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Myrtle Biard; his siblings, Tommy Biard, Olivia Biard, and Dorthy Giesinger; and two infant daughters, Katrina Rae Biard and Susan Nell Biard. He will be missed. Jackie's favorite scripture was the 23rd Psalm. "The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever." Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Montezuma, P.O. Box 740, Cortez.
