Jack Rentz

JACK RENTZ Funeral services for Hatch, Utah resident, Jack Rentz will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 20 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel with Daniel Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Visitation has been set for Wednesday afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m. at Ertel Chapel. Jack was born the son of Little Hilltop and Gayle Rentz on July 19, 1921 in Hatch, Utah. He passed away at San Juan Hospital in Monticello, Utah on Sunday, November 16, 2008 at the age of 87. Jack worked for San Juan County road department for over 20 years as a heavy equipment operator. He had also worked as a uranium miner and on railroads all over the West. He, too, enjoyed helping local ranchers in the Four Corners area herd sheep. Happiest outdoors, Jack enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved his horse, Henry and his favorite dog, Buster. Surviving Jack are his wife, Lucy Rentz of Hatch, Utah; his children, Phil Rentz Sr., and wife, Judith, Carol Rentz, Lorraine Billie and husband, Harold, Carilene Sam and husband, Leslie, and Billison Rentz and wife, Lorraine all of Hatch, Utah; by 26 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; his brother, Dutchman Rentz of Aneth, Utah; and his sister, Mary Rentz Jay of Hatch, Utah. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; and by two daughters, Karen Rentz and Elsie John.
