Ina Mae Cline

March 3, 1928 — December 6, 2016

INA MAE CLINE Ina Mae Cline was born to Herman and Clara (Garbareno) Kuhlman on March 3, 1928 in Cortez, Colo. She passed peacefully at her home in Dolores on November 29, 2016 at the age of 88. Ina had an idyllic childhood growing up on the historic Kuhlman and Seegar ranches up and down the Dolores River where these resourceful pioneers forged livelihoods in farming and ranching. Along with daily toil, there were many opportunities for fun on these ranch playgrounds that grew sound minds and healthy bodies. Ina attended Sunnyside School on the Dolores River near the family ranch and graduated from Dolores High School in 1946. Ina married James Harry Cline, March 12, 1948 in Aztec, N.M. and so began a near 60 year union. Together they spent many happy years ranching in the sheep industry stretching from the high deserts of Utah to their beautiful mountain retreat at the Meadows. Ina will be deeply missed and fondly remembered as a mother, grandmother, and aunt by her kind heart, amazing selflessness and loving spirit. She was an extremely genuine person who had heartfelt gratitude for the smallest joys of life; picking a beautiful mountain flower bouquet, fishing a small mountain stream, or giving special affection and care to all her pets that adored her. She had an innate wisdom, grace and composure about her being that she brought to all of life's trials and tribulations. She was an incredible cook, especially known for her desserts and Christmas divinity that she joyfully shared each year with all her beloved friends at bridge club. She was an integral part of her special granddaughter Callies's life as she encouraged, mentored, and guided her along life's way. Ina proudly gave her family a past to stand on, a future to reach for, a family lineage to be proud of, and most of all a place to come home to. Ina is survived by her children, James Lyle and wife, Debra of Florence Mont., Kay Lanell Goode and husband, Billy of Cortez; five grandchildren, Nichole Cobb of Benton Ky., Ashley Engesser of Dillon Mont., Chase Cline of Helena Mont., Lynlea Pritchard of Missoula Mont., and Callie Goode of Cortez; four great grand children; Carsyn, Decker, Justyce and Dawson Engesser; her brother Gordon Kuhlmanm and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim in 2008; and by her sister. Thelma Lofquist in 2012. At Ina's request, no services are to be held and cremation has taken place. Remembrance donations may be sent to Hospice of Montezuma P.O. Box 740 Cortez, Colo. 81321.
