Homer Sellard

HOMER SELLARD Services for longtime Cortez resident, Homer Sellard will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 3 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Lewis Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. Visitation has been set for Saturday morning at the Ertel Chapel from 9 a.m. until service time. Homer was born on January 9, 1927 in Holly, Colo., the son of Arvel and Hatti (Casteel) Sellard. He passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at the Heart Hospital of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Homer was 77 years old. Homer was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion. He had been a residential contractor in the Cortez area for a number of years. In his free time, he enjoyed auctions, traveling, flying, cars and jewelry. He loved the time spent with family. Surviving Homer are his children, Susan Durall and husband, Gerald of Cortez, and son, Stephen D. Sellard of Tennessee; grandchildren, Gerald C. Durall Jr. and wife, Cindy, Stephen T. Durall and wife, Veronica, and Heather Sellard; great grandchildren, Andrew P. Durall, Hadley P. Durall, Erica Robinson and husband, David, and Keri Orr and husband, Jerry; and great great grandchild, Bradon W. Robinson. Also surviving Homer are his companion, Estelle Long and her extended family, Danita Wesch, Renita Gennetten, Casey Record, Brycie Seymour, Evan Gennetten, and Phelicia J. Record; his brother, Richard Sellard of Kansas; and a sister-in-law, Vickie Sellard of Denver, Colo. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Homer Sellard with Heart Hospital of New Mexico, 504 Elm Street, Albuquerque, N.M. 87102.
