Heather Lois (Morton) (Fury) Ridling passed away at Mercy Hospital in Durango, CO, on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at 55 years old.
Heather was born in Ely, NV on May 29, 1966, to Linda (Gerlach) (Morton) Mahaffy and Duain Morton. At an early age they moved to Cortez, CO where Heather attended Cortez High School. She later transferred to Dove Creek High School where she met John Fury Jr. and had three wonderful children Jessica, Tommy, and Jennifer. Heather attended San Juan College where she earned her coding degree and became a medical coder and biller for Dove Creek’s Clinic. She enjoyed raising her children in Dove Creek, CO, crocheting, cross stitching, hunting, fishing, and skiing. Heather was known for her beautiful singing voice at competitions, karaoke, weddings, funerals, and the national anthem at her kids’ sporting events. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and family.
Heather later moved to Aztec, NM where she married Dale Ridling and started work at Axis Health System as a medical coder and biller. Heather and her husband enjoyed traveling on their motorcycles, taking the boat out, and riding on their sand buggy in the sand dunes. Most people remember her for her wonderful laugh, beautiful singing voice, and bubbly personality. Heather was loved by all who knew her, our world will never be the same without this sweet, amazing woman!
Heather is survived by her husband, Dale Ridling of Aztec, NM; her mother, Linda Mahaffy (Gary) of Cortez, CO; father, Duain Morton of TX; children, Jessica Springmeyer (Cliff) of Dove Creek, CO, Thomas Fury of Aztec, NM, Jennifer Allen (Grant) of Dove Creek, CO; granddaughters, Chelsey Springmeyer, Hadley Allen, and one on the way; siblings, Velvet Pribble (Lonnie) of Dove Creek, CO, Tiffany Tarmon of Bayfield, CO, Chris Morton (Aharon) of Mancos, CO, Ryan Morton of Tx; three nieces, Lacy Dufriene, Kayla Bolick, Bailey Morton; 9 nephews, Randy Pribble, Brandon Barry, Travis Barry, Cody Barry, Colby Morton, Blain Morton, Garrett Morton, Logan Morton, Liam Morton; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her grandparents; stepfather, Floyd Hutchinson; and fiancée, Dave Campbell.
Heather’s family will host a Celebration of Life on Saturday May 21, 2022, from 1-4 p.m. at the Dove Creek Community Center.
