Harold Earl 'Skip' Adams

July 8, 1950 — June 18, 2020

Harold Earl Adams, better known as Skip, was born July 8, 1950 in Anaheim California. Skip was the youngest of four sons born to Harold and Dorothy.
In his early years, Skip farmed and ranched with his dad and three brothers, David, Chub and Denny in the San Luis Valley. Skip also worked and owned a motorcycle shop with his dad where his love for the sport never ended. He participated in football, track, motorcycle riding and sports cars. Skip met his wife Trudi in Alamosa, CO and they were married April 29, 1982. Skip and Trudi enjoyed camping and boating whenever possible. Their first child, Jen, was born in October of 1982 in Gillette, WY. Skip and Trudi traveled early in their marriage and lived in many different areas finally settling in Alamosa, CO where they had the rest of their four children. Amy, their second daughter, was born in 1988 followed by Jess in 1990 and Corey in 1992. Skip had a successful sprinkler business in Alamosa, CO. Skip found himself and his family always at the lake. Skip sold his sprinkler business and moved his family to Cortez, CO where he and Trudi started another successful business, Adams Trench and Plow Service. Skips love for motorcycles manifested in his son Corey. As soon as Corey was big enough to ride, the family found their weekends occupied with racing. Skip also enjoyed cars and sports. His prize possession was his ’56 Chevy he rebuilt himself. He loved sharing his love for cars by taking his kids to car shows. If Skip wasn’t working or on the lake he could be found at the poker tables, he even won a truck down at The Ute Mountain Casino. Skip was also known for showing support at his kids’ events by cheering for his kids and yelling at the referees. After their event he would give each of his kids advice on how to do better the next time, whether they wanted to hear it or not. Soon his kids were grown and giving him grandchildren to love on. The grandkids knew exactly where to go to get a snack or candy from Papa Skip. Skip loved his grandkids and loved watching them grow.
Skip passed away in his home surrounded by his family in Cortez, CO on June 18, 2020, at the age of 69.
Surviving Skip are his wife, Trudi; and his children, Jen (Sam, Ryin, Ty, Bryker) Amy (Kambria and Kwinn), Jess (Drew), and Corey. Skip was proceeded in death by his parents, Harold and Dorothy; his three brothers, David, Chub and Denny; and also by his son-in-law Kyle.
