GUADALUPE ORTIZ "WALLY" SANCHEZ Memorial Mass for Cortez resident Guadalupe Ortiz "Wally" Sanchez will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 20 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. A Rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 19 at the church. Wally was born July 5, 1947 in Depew, Okla. the son of Hilario and Louisa (Ortiz) Sanchez. He passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at his residence at the age of 65. On April 12, 1997, Wally married Mary Alvillar in Gainesville, Tex. Surviving Wally are his wife, Mary Sanchez of Cortez; his mother, Louisa Sanchez Garza of Fort Worth, Tex., his step-children, Cristina Briceno, Norma Jean Briceno, and Gilbert Briceno; his step-grandchildren, Adam, Gabriel, Joseph, and Morgan Briceno; three step-great-grandchildren; his siblings, Larry Sanchez of Jacksonville, Fla., Janie, Erma, Linda, Dalia, Renee; by his half-siblings, Robert, Anthony, Michael, and Michelle; and by his step-siblings, Ricky Garza, Kathy, Barbara, Rose and Mary. Wally was preceded in death by his father. Memorial contributions may be made in Guadalupe "Wally" Sanchez' name to the American Cancer Society.
