Gerald Lee "Jerry" Parcel

GERALD LEE “JERRY” PARCEL Gerald Lee “Jerry” Parcel was born October 21, 1928 in Long Beach, Calif., the son of Leo and Geraldine (Oswald) Parcel. He passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at the Vista Grande Inn at the age of 78. On June 6, 1987, Jerry wed Avalon Gay “Abbie” Wells in Las Vegas, Nev. Jerry served his country with the United States Navy as a Sea Bee. He was a member of the volunteer fire department in Taft, Calif., and he was a member of the Elks Lodge in California and in Rangely, Colo. Jerry retired from Chevron Oil after 40 years of faithful service. In his free time, Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, reading and especially being with his grandchildren. Surviving Jerry are his wife, Abbie Parcel of Cortez; his children, Linda Starkey and husband, Ron of Taft, Calif., Timothy Parcel and wife, Kim of Hanford, Calif., Ted Parcel and wife, Barbara of Taft, Calif., Delon Espinoza and husband, Ricky of Cortez, and Diane Fox and husband, Ray of Cortez; his grandchildren, Brian, Kristi, Jocelyn, Zachary, Krista, Leticia, Melissa, Cade, Derek, Zachery, Devon, Alex, and Nicholas; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Tommy Parcel; and his sister, Barbara Cole. Memorial contributions may be made in Jerry’s name to Hospice of Montezuma. Cremation has taken place and services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 11 at St. Barnabas Episocopal Church.
