Gale William Greenlee

Gale W. Greenlee, a life-long resident, died on Monday, May 11, 2020 on his ranch south of Cortez. Gale was born November 15, 1941 in a log cabin on that ranch. His parents were George and Lois Greenlee, his grandparents were Frank and Molly Greenlee, Cortez residents since 1915, and W.L. and Mary Butler, Dolores residents since 1918.
Gale graduated from Montezuma County High School in 1959 then served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1963. He then graduated from Fort Lewis College in 1968 and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1970. He established an accounting practice in Cortez and worked at that profession for 42 years, retiring in 2012. Throughout those years he worked with his father George and his uncle Harold Greenlee, maintaining and expanding the Greenlee cattle ranch.
Mr. Greenlee is survived by his three children, Farrell W., David H. and Molly R.; and one grandchild, Beatrix M. Hoffman.
