Fred William Crouse

FRED WILLIAM CROUSE Funeral services for Fred William Crouse, formerly of Cortez and currently of Mesa, Ariz. will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 23 at Ertel Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Marvin Graves officiating. Interment will follow at Summit Ridge Cemetery and Military Honors will be conducted by Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. Fred was born August 20, 1923 in Copeland, Kans. the son of Joseph Oliver and Edith (Fincher) Crouse. He passed away at Scottsdale Village Square in Scottsdale, Ariz. on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the age 86. Fred proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He held memberships in the American Legion and N.R.A. He worked for several years in the mines at Rico and then was employed at Cortez Diesel. Finally he opened his own business, C&L Diesel Service. In his free time Fred enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing and hunting as well as playing baseball and horseshoes. Surviving Fred are his children, Carolyn Lard and husband, Joe of Cortez, LeRoy Tucker and wife, Janice of San Jose, Calif., Gary Crouse and wife, Nora of Cortez, and Judy Johnson and husband, Larry of Amarillo, Tex.; by 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; and by his siblings, Bertha Cussins and husband, Robert of Glide, Ore., Leon Boren and wife, Doris of Cortez, and Cleo Biard and husband, Carl also of Cortez. Fred was preceded in death earlier this year by his wife of 43 years, Leona Geraldine (Shearer) Crouse; three sisters, Nancy Wright, Bessie Miller and Mary Burke; and by one brother, George Crouse.
