FRANK DEAN BATY Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident Frank Dean Baty will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 19 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Visitation has been scheduled for Sunday afternoon from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Ertel Chapel. Frank was born December 27, 1949 in San Rafael, Calif. the son of Glen Charles and Milli Marie (McMains) Baty. He passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at his residence at the age of 61. In 1968, Frank married Rebecca Lee Hill in Cortez. The couple shared 42 years of marriage. Frank owned and operated B&B Welding for many years. In his free time, Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing chess with his grandchildren. He loved working with things in nature. Surviving Frank are his wife, Rebecca Baty of Cortez; and his children, Terry Donati and husband, Shane of Farmington, N.M., Sherry Smith and husband, Chuck of Denver, Colo., Rebecca Green of Paragould, Ark., Frank Baty Jr. and wife, Holly of Cortez, Tammy Gonzales and husband, Franky of Cortez, and Glen Baty of Sterling, Colo. Frank also leaves behind 27 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Myrtle Mae Phillips of Tyler, Tex., Pauline Baty of Salt Lake City, Utah, Glen Joe Baty of Paragould, Ark., Sarah Phillips of Cortez, and Albert Baty of Cortez. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; and by his siblings, Alice Morrow, Flavia Baty, Francis Baty, and Nora "Babe" Baty.
