FRANCIS ALVA "FRANK" TATE Funeral services for lifelong Mancos resident Francis Alva "Frank" Tate will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 5 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Cremation will follow the service. Reverend Bud Rousset will officiate. A visitation has been scheduled for Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ertel Chapel. Frank was born on June 27, 1930 in Cortez the son of Ule Lee and Irene (Brown) Tate. He passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2008 at his residence at the age of 77. Frank married Elisa "Lisa" Ashley and the couple shared 49 years of marriage together. He devoted four years of his life to the United States Army and another four years to the United States Navy. Frank was an active man having been employed at Mesa Verde National Park in maintenance, he worked at the Ohio Match Factory in Mancos and he also worked for the National Forest Service. Frank spent some time working as a ranch hand where he was a cow puncher. He loved participating in rodeos. Frank steer wrestled, rode bulls and was a bareback rider. He also owned and operated a trading post in Many Farms, Ariz. for 15 years. Surviving Frank are his wife, Lisa of Mancos; his children, Steve Tate and wife, Joan of Salt Lake City, Utah, Cheryl Tsabetsaye and family of Salt Lake City, Utah, Shari Tate of Mancos, Ed Tate and wife, Michele of Grand Junction, Colo., and Frankie Tate of Ft. Duchesne, Utah; his grandchildren, Edward, Ashley, Elisa, Maxine, Frankie, Clinton, Karen, and Anna, along with numerous other grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his children, Karen Sage and Carsen Lee; and his siblings, Annie Evans and Dude Tate.
