Frances Whitney

FRANCES WHITNEY Mrs. Frances Whitney, age 88 of Cortez and formerly of Espanola, N.M., died peacefully on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 in Cortez, Colo. She was born in Dewitt, Ark. to the late Frank and Abbie Nady. She was a member of The Ladies Home Extension Club, and an avid gardener and baker. Her family will remember her delicious homemade pies, tasty donuts and other sweet dishes, as well as her delicious home cooked foods. She enjoyed time spent in the garden and tending to her lovely flowers. Mrs. Whitney was preceded in death by her dear husband, Lester; her brother I.W. Nady; her sons in law, Dan Holterman, James Munkres and Anthony Giron. She is survived by her children, Vikki Munkres of Espanola, Sandra Giron of Espanola, Leon Whitney of Rangely, Colo., and Elaine Underwood and husband, Ken of Cortez, Colo.; her grandchildren, Jeanie Marten and husband, Dave, Danise Coon and husband, Christopher, Daniel Holterman and wife, Lucianna, Dawn Evrige and husband, David, Steven Underwood and wife, Amber and James Munkres; her great-grandchildren include, Ian and Sean Marten, Anelia and Rylan Holterman, and Grace, Madison and Colin Everige; as well as many other relatives. Funeral services and burial are scheduled for Tuesday in Espanola, N.M. Local arrangements are being made through Ertel Funeral Home.
