Evan Roy Jay

EVAN ROY JAY Funeral services for Cahone Mesa, Utah resident Evan Roy Jay were held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2008 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment followed at Cortez Cemetery. Evan was born April 15, 1942 in Aneth, Utah the son of Jim and Mary (Bitsilly) Jay. He passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at the age of 66. A carpenter by trade, Evan loving having a hammer in his hand always ready to build something. He also enjoyed time spent horseback riding. He was a member and board member of the Native American Church of North America. Surviving Evan are his wife, Lillian Jay of Cahone Mesa, Utah; his children, Martinez Lee of Cahone Mesa, Beverly Merritt of Shiprock, N.M., and Valerie Merritt of Aneth, Utah; by eight grandchildren; and by his siblings, Eddie Jay, Lillie Jay Lee, Dorthy Begay, and Irene Miller all of Aneth. He was preceded in by two sisters, Daisy Harvey and Alemeda Lee.
