ELSIE JANET BAUER Funeral services for longtime Mancos resident Elsie Janet Bauer will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 4 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Elsie was born January 16, 1920 in Mancos the daughter of Roger Yardley and Ada Lou (Sheek) Gibbs. She passed away at Vista Grande Inn in Cortez on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at the age of 90. In 1943 Elsie married James Arthur Bauer in Denver, Colo. Elsie was an active member of her community giving her time to the VFW Auxiliary and had served as Worthy Matron in Eastern Star. She was very involved with the annual Mancos Days Celebration. She also loved to bowl. Surviving Elsie are her two children, James Roger Bauer and wife, Shirley of Mancos and Beverly Jean Gardiner and husband, Rich of Loveland, Colo.; her grandchildren, Toby Lynn Bauer, Tonya Lee Davis, James Aaron Bauer, Jeffrey Gardiner and Todd Gardiner; and by her great grandchildren, Emily Bauer, Justin Bauer, and Madison Mitchell. Elsie's twin sister, Grace Pickens of Mancos also survives her. Preceding Elsie in death were her parents; her husband, James Bauer; her sister, Nadine Barlow; and her infant brother, Delbert Gibbs.
