Eloise D. Miller

ELOISE D. MILLER Funeral services for former Cortez resident, Eloise D. Miller will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 31 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. Eloise was born March 24, 1917 in Georgetown, Neb. the daughter of Leonard and Iva Coen. She passed away in Tacoma, Wash. on December 21, 2007 at the age of 90. Eloise and her family homesteaded in the area during the 1920’s. In 1939, Eloise married Carlton George Miller in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her children felt that she was the anchor of their family; she felt that family should come first. Eloise had previously worked for Cortez Packing Company for 13 years and she lived in Dove Creek for a while. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines, was a devoted member of Four Square Church, and she was a Lioness. Surviving Eloise are her daughters, Darlene Coulson of Bullhead City, Ariz., and Donna Johnson and husband, Bert of Tacoma, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carlton Miller; her daughters, Betty Davis and Dixie Smith; and her siblings, Leroy Coen, Dolores Johnson, and Marie Cox.
