ELIZABETH ARMENTA "LIZ" EYETOO Memorial services for longtime Towaoc resident Elizabeth Armenta "Liz" Eyetoo will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 16 at the Ute Mountain Presbyterian Church. Reverend Bud Rousset will officiate. Liz was born July 7, 1938 in Toadlena, N.M. the daughter of Willie Charles and Sarah (McDonald) Armenta. She passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango at the age of 73. On May 14, 1960, Liz married Raymond Eyetoo in Farmington, N.M. The couple met while at boarding school in Ignacio. Liz was active in the Ute Mountain Presbyterian Church. Her work career covered many different jobs. She was a supervisor at the sewing factory in Towaoc known as Southwest Utah Sewing Industry, she was a teacher's aide at Kemper Elementary School, she helped with the Navajo bilingual program, and she worked at the Ute Mountain Tribe in the medical records department for children. She went back to college at Navajo Community College where she received a certificate in Early Childhood Education. In her free time, Liz enjoyed sewing, singing, and cooking. She was a talented seamstress. Surviving Liz are her children, Eric Eyetoo and wife, Ruby of Dolores and Shelley Eyetoo of Towaoc; and her four grandchildren, Autumn Eyetoo of Durango, Drake Eyetoo of Towaoc, Zackary McKensley of Albuquerque, N.M., and Reyes McKensley of Towaoc. Liz also leaves behind her two great-grandchildren, Sophia Cockrost and Kyrie McKensley; and her sisters, Lillie Smith of Albuquerque, N.M., Louise Begay of Albuquerque, N.M., and Dorothy Armenta of Farmington, N.M. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Raymond Eyetoo; by her sons, Alex Eyetoo and Reyes Eyetoo; and by her siblings, Herbert Armenta and Priscilla Armenta.
