Edward Curtis "Ed" Daniels

EDWARD CURTIS "ED" DANIELS A Celebration of Life will be held for Cortez resident Edward Curtis "Ed" Daniels on Saturday, April 19 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Daniels' residence. Ed was born on October 21, 1926 in Jackson, Mississippi the son of Joel and Mandy Bell (Harper) Daniels. He passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at his residence at the age of 81. Ed graduated from Dillard University with a Bachelor's Degree. He served his country in the United States Army. Ed and his wife, Margriet lived in Chicago, Ill. and then moved to Evanston, Ill. in 1976. The couple resided there until 1997, when they then moved to Colorado. Volunteering was important to Ed. He spent time helping the Battle Rock School and the McElmo Chapter of 4-H. He shared his knowledge of leather craft with many. Ed raised ostriches and he enjoyed making unique lamps out of ostrich eggs. Surviving Ed are his loving wife, Margriet Schnabel of Cortez; his children, Edward C. Daniels Jr. and wife, Marsella of Gulfport, Mississippi, Rodney Daniels of Gulfport, Mississippi, Benita Daniels of Phoenix, Ariz., Gregory Daniels of Chicago, Ill., Christopher Daniels and wife, Monica of Detroit, Mich.; his honorary son, Rick Salchli and wife, Elise of Chicago, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Renard Daniels. Memorial contributions may be made in Ed's name to Hospice of Montezuma, P.O. Box 740, Cortez, Colo. 81321.
