Edith Louise Chappell

Funeral services for Cortez resident Edith Louise Chappell will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Lighthouse Baptist Church. Pastor Bruce Burkett will officiate. A private interment will follow.
Edith was born May 11, 1919 in Lebanon, CO the daughter of Claude “Bud” and Ethel Louise (Dickerson) Ince. She passed away on Monday, June 17, 2019 at her residence in Cortez at the age of 100.
Edith married Paul Bryan Chappell on January 10, 1936 in Monticello, UT. Over the years she enjoyed swimming, walking and music; family gatherings, great sermons and beautiful songs, mountains and sunsets. Edith cherished and considered her four healthy and successful children her special achievement, along with being named the Colorado Merit Mother of the Year.
Surviving Edith are her children, Arlene Ekleberry (Lyle) of Cortez, CO, Paula Venters (Darren) of Las Cruces, NM, Larry Chappell (Maxine) of Glendale, AZ, and Steve Chappell of Cortez, CO; her brother, Vernon Ince (Diana) of Cortez, CO; 17 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, and 30 great great grandchildren. Edith was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Chappell; her sisters, Elaine Lancaster and Barbara Reamer; and her brothers, Nathan Ince and Carson Ince.
