Edith Ethel Hampton

EDITH ETHEL HAMPTON Memorial services for lifelong Cortez resident, Edith Ethel Hampton will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 13 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel with Mr. Dewayne McGettrick officiating. Edith, the daughter of Sidney Scott and Dora Vesta Wilmarth, was born September 17, 1914 in Cortez. She passed away at Vista Grande Nursing Home on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at the age of 92. On May 24, 1941 Edith married Byron Evans Hampton in Aztec, N.M. sharing 36 years of marriage before his passing in 1978. Edith is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Yoke and husband, Joe of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; son-in-law, Doug Wilson of Cortez; three grandchildren, Tami Dixon, Mary Vesta Valerio and husband, Tommy, and Scotty Wilson, and six great grandchildren; her brother, Lester Wilmarth and wife, Mae of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; her sisters-in-law, Nedra Wilmarth of Fruita, Colo. and Helen Wilmarth; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Vesta Wilmarth; husband, Bryon Hampton; daughter, Elaine Wilson in 2003; and two brothers, Robert W. Wilmarth and Elmer Wilmarth.
