EDDIE DEAN OLIVER

Our beloved Eddie Dean Oliver. Eddie was the New Year’s baby in Cortez, CO January 1, 1950. He moved on from his earthly life on December 16, 2021. Eddie was born to Lester and Berna Dean Oliver, the eldest of five children. Eddie spent his early years in Delta, CO on a mountain place that was dear to his heart. He attended school in Delta, Pleasant View and Cortez.
The greatest loves in Eddie’s life were God, Family, Country, Farming and Cowboying.
Eddie’s childhood was spent working with his dad on the family farm. He was put on a tractor at a young age, this developed a lifelong love for tractors and farming. Eddie always held a deep fondness for his father and the skills that he had taught him. Eddie could grow anything with the ground as hard as a rock and with little to no water, he was truly gifted in this skill.
After school, Eddie started cowboying for Max and Melvin Dalton at Montezuma Creek. In 1968, at the age of 18, Eddie was drafted to the Army. He spent 15 months in Vietnam. Serving his Country has been a great pride that he carried throughout his life.
On May 18,1972, Eddie married his eternal love Glenna Conrad in Lewis, CO. They share a deep love and devotion for one another. As a young couple, with a 3 month old daughter, Stacy, they moved to Slick Rock, Eddie went to work for the Dolores River Ranch cowboying in the high deserts of Colorado and Utah. The spring of 1975 they moved to Dove Creek, CO where Eddie went to work for Ron and Donna Pribble. Brandon was born that April. February 1977, Eddie and Glenna moved to Montezuma Creek, where some of their fondest and happiest memories were made. Tammy joined the family in December. They moved back to Pleasant View in June 1979, so Stacy could start school. One of the greatest blessings of their lives was discovering The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints they were baptized members on February 22, 1980. Dillon was born that following August. September 1981, they moved to their forever home at the Poor Farm. Eddie continued farming and always worked so hard to provide for his family. The moving part of their lives were over, they were settled and loved the life they were building, working hard and raising kids. The last of the kids that completed our family, Morgan in November 1983. Julie in April 1987 and James in December 1988.
Eddie had a strength of character which enabled him to think for himself, be independent and not controlled by the opinions of others. His mind was always trying to find better means of living and making a livelihood. Eddie had a great, great Faith and love for his Heavenly Father and devoted much of his time in His service. One of the last things he said was “I have a lot of work to do for the Lord.”
Eddie did not find his wealth in worldly possessions but rather in his family. He is so proud and cherished his wife, his children and their spouses, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. We simply did not get enough time with him on this earth. We will miss you dearly and love you forever.
Eddie is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Berna Dean; and his brother, Leslie.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Glenna; his children, Stacy (Steve), Brandon (Shayla), Tammy (Tommy), Dillon (Heather), Morgan (Kati), Julie, James (Ryan); his grandchildren, Megan (Jake), Riley, Chase, Kenna (Mat), Ty (Hannah), Hayden, Trace, Kennedee, Jake, Charlee, Wyatt, Lancer, Dallee, Kelby, Ellee, Joe, Harley, Kal, Casen, Karter, Barrett, Reagan; and his great grandchildren, Trenton, Raylee.
