Earline Louise Franklin

November 16, 1943 — January 4, 2019

Earline Louise Franklin, 75, of Cortez Colorado passed away on January 4th 2019 in Durango, Colorado. Memorial services are planned for Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Mesa Trail Cowboy Church in Mancos, Colorado, located at 281 West Menefee Street, Mancos, CO 81328. A reception will follow the service.
Earline was born on November 16, 1943 in Sioux City, Iowa to the late Esther and Earl Kline. She graduated high school in Annandale, VA. Earline was the oldest of six daughters. Growing up in a military family they lived in a number of places, most notably, Japan. On June 19, 1972, Earline and Floyd married in Grand Junction, CO, after meeting in Germany, where Floyd was stationed in the Army.
Earline and Floyd had the joy of raising four wonderful children. While raising her family, Earline worked and went to school to earn her nursing degree. As a Registered Nurse she worked at several different doctor offices and hospitals over the years. Earline retired from the Colorado State Hospital in April, 2010. Earline loved her family and friends. She found joy in cooking, playing card games and working jigsaw puzzles. Earline was very fond of road trips through the mountains to look at the changing colors and camping trips with family and friends.
Earline is survived by husband, Floyd G. Franklin; and children, Steven Franklin (wife Michelle) of Fairfax Station, VA, Christopher Franklin (wife Jeanne) of Montrose, CO and Elizabeth Brooks (husband Travis) of Plattsburg, MO; she has nine grandchildren, Zachary Franklin, Jacob Franklin, Colton Franklin, Janessa Franklin, Tyler Franklin, Shelby Webster, Austin Webster, Hayden Webster and Austin Brooks; and one great grandchild, Jeremiah Johnson; her sisters, Carolyn Pavitt (husband James), Diane Bernstein (husband Larry) and Evelyn Jones (husband Keifer). Earline was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jeffrey Franklin; and sisters, Nancy Edwards and Ruth Lytle.
