DOROTHEA MAXINE RATLIFF Dorothea Maxine Ratliff was born November 22, 1920 in Peabody, Kan. the daughter of Cornelius Clark and Mary Jane (Schaub) McHenry. She passed away at Vista Grande Nursing Home on February 10, 2014 at the age of 93. Dorothea married the love of her life Stephen Orlando Ratliff on July 11, 1943 in Fort Scott, Kan. Dorothea lived in Arma, Kan. most of her life until she moved to Cortez in 2004 to live with her daughter Rosalea Ayers. Dorothea loved the outdoors. She loved to play tag in the front yard with her great grandkids. When her grandson, Jimmy Ratliff, would take his boat out onto the lake, he would let her drive. She would smile the whole time while she was driving. She lived a full and happy life with her family. Dorothea would do anything for her family. Memories are the tender thread of the heart. Surviving Dorothea is her sister, Margie Abbot (Carlson) of Kansas; brother, Bill Abbot of Kansas; children, Barbara Mabry of Pittsburgh, Kan., Rosalea and Robert Ayers of Cortez, Betty and Eddie Harvey of Girard, Kan., Johnnie Ratliff of Smithton, Mo., Alice Fields of Pittsburgh, Kan. and Steve Ratliff of Springfield, Mo.; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. Preceding her in death is her husband, Stephen Orlando Ratliff; sister, Truda McHenry; and brothers, Raymond, Dan, Cornelius, Vernie, Jack, Lorn and Fred McHenry. Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held. Arrangements are being made through Ertel Funeral Home.
