DONNA LEA BEENE Memorial services for longtime Lewis resident Donna Lea Beene will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 31 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Donna was born on March 18, 1932 in Sterling, Colo. the daughter of Thomas K. and Verna Ellen (Woods) Acott. She passed away on Friday, December 24, 2010 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 78. Donna was a member of the United Methodist Church, Lakeview Harmony Club, and she was a lifetime member of the Southwestern Colorado Cowbelles. Donna spent many years working for Four States Tractor. She enjoyed tole painting, sewing and choir singing. Surviving Donna are her children, Keith Hindmarsh and wife, Alesha of McElmo, Colo., Penny Vidakovich and husband, Leigh of Peyton, Colo., and Jodie Peters of Medford, Ore.; nine grandchildren, Bradley Apple of Grand Junction, Colo., Dalton and Logan Hindmarsh of Cortez, Heath Higgins and wife, Lori of Yellow Jacket, Allen Higgins and wife, Mandy of Lewis, Maygen Ives and husband, Luke of Yellow Jacket, Lauren Ives and husband, Paul of Cortez, Matt Black and wife, Jodie of California, and Weston Willey and wife, Mindy of Medford, Ore.; seven great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Darlene Gorbutt of Fleming, Colo. and Thomas R. Acott and wife, Reta of Fleming, Colo. Donna was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Joe Marion Beene; by her children, LeuAnn Hindmarsh, LeAnn Higgins, and Kent Hindmarsh; and by her sister, Mary Elizabeth Acott.
