David L. Corlett

DAVID L. CORLETT Memorial services for longtime Dove Creek resident, David L. Corlett will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 13 at the Dove Creek United Methodist Church. Reverend Suzanne Listemann will be officiating. David was born on June 22, 1917 in Salida, Colo. the son of Thomas William and Ora Ann (Latimer) Corlett. He passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2004 at the Mercy Medical Center in Durango. David was 87 years old. David defended his country serving in the Army Air Corp. On September 24, 1941 in Lamar, Colo. David married Jean Romer. In 1945 they moved to the Dove Creek area. David was an active member of his community maintaining memberships in several organizations. He was a member of the American Legion, Dove Creek Fire Department, Four Corners Rifle and Pistol Club and the National Rifle Association. He was an active member of both the Masonic Lodge, and the Shriners. In 1982 David held the highest position as the Colorado Masonic Grand Master. He was a member of the La Sal, Utah and Telluride, Colo. Masonic Lodges as well. He also belonged to the Escalante Shriners Club, and the Alkalia Shriners of Pueblo. Outside of his many memberships he was a pilot who enjoyed flying very much. He was also a flight instructor. David is survived by his wife, Jean Corlett of Dove Creek; his children, James W. Corlett and wife, Sandy of Denver, Ann DeLancey of Colorado Springs, Colo., Charles D. Corlett and wife, Leanne of Littleton, Colo., and Kathryn J. Corlett of Durango. He leaves four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers and three sisters. Memorial contributions can be made in David’s memory to one of the following, the Dove Creek Ambulance Fund, Dove Creek United Methodist Church, or to Hospice of Mercy 3801 Main Ave., Durango, Co. 81301.
