DARRELL DEAN DENNISON Funeral services for lifelong Cortez resident Darrell Dean Dennison will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Visitation has been scheduled for Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. until service time. Darrell was born July 6, 1936 in Cortez the son of James H. and Emma (Brinker) Dennison. He passed away at his home on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at the age of 77. In Holbrook, Ariz. on June 14, 1953, Darrell married Marjorie Shirley Atkinson, sharing over 60 years of marriage. Darrell worked 20 years for Rio Grande Motorway. Loving to work, he also worked for Farmer's Insurance Agency, owned and operated his own landscaping business and did weed control for Verizon. Darrell's winters were spent in Arizona soaking up the sun and warmth. In his free time, Darrell loved camping, fishing, riding motorcycles and spending time on his tractor. Family dinners with his children and grandchildren brought him the most enjoyment. Surviving Darrell are his wife, Shirley Dennison of Cortez; daughters, Linda Cherie Dennison of Cortez and Connie Michelle Neergaard and husband, Ted of Durango; son, Darrell Ray Dennison of Cortez; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and sister, Immogene Spruell of Cortez. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Emma Dennison; daughter, Melanie Sue Dennison; sister, Lois Steward; and brothers, Lonnie Dennison, LaVaughn Dennison, and Eugene Dennison.
